We saw the new Indiana Jones movie on Saturday - that is beginning to become a Saturday - see the newest movie release - habit! I LOVED it! I was quite worried that Harrison Ford was to old but he did very well. The new kid - Shilojsdjfklnfmshkjsk LaBiuifhh or whatever his name is was good although his outfit looked like he was participating in a 50's day for spirit week at school. Karen Allen was great - she has resisted the whole fake looking trying to to be 20 plastic surgery crap AND she looked good! A lot of people were bothered by the alien aspect - but being a true X-files girl, I LOVED it!

I had to work yesterday so I am planning a layed back day for Memorial Day.

We went to Narnia, Prince Caspian on Saturday - my grade B+. Had it not been for the hotness of the Prince it would have been quite a lower grade - was boring. It had moments and some real cool scenery shots - I loved the tunnel leading from London to Narnia marking their return to Narnia. And the tree twisting thing at the end marking their return to London was cool and Edmund was no longer my most hated character - he was really likable in this one! It is very good that the Prince was so cute because he did a couple of really stupid things - going after his uncle and not following the plan when they had a very cool plan of attack on the unsupecting castle and when he went along with those 2 shady characters and brought back the white queen.
Next week - Indiana Jones! - we are watching the first 3 this week - last night was Raiders of the Lost Ark out on the deck because it is so HOT in our house!

Works for Me Wednesday

My Works for me Wednesday tip is ALWAYS USE A LIST WHEN GROCERY SHOPPING - ALWAYS! And yes I am yelling - you can get into all kinds of trouble traipsing into a store without a list - you go in for milk, string cheese and broccoli and come out with donuts, hot tamales and gummy worms! Well I would! Maybe not the gummy worms - but if one of my boys were with me it would happen. Seriously - the only way to sensibly have any food to make for dinner is to make a menu and a list. And to be even more cool - I have a list hung on my fridge and have taught my kids that anytime they use the last of something for heaven sakes - write it on the list or it will not be bought! I'll post a picture of my list asap - it is divided into columns that match the aisles at Winco!

Kolby stayed home again today but he is feeling so much better, he'll be back to full strength tomorrow! THe girls and I (and Kolby) went to lunch at Sizzler today - I miss that so much when I work! Koltin's last choir concert as a middle schoooler was tonight - they did a montogue of Grease - it was really quite cute!

Tackle it Tuesday!

I am "tackling" my Scrapbook room! Yeah me! It will however take me a couple more hours, but with my Keith Urban DVD rockin' in the background it is not a hardship!

Koltin made it to school today - I expected a phone call from school saying to come and pick him up but it never came. Kolby did not make it to school, however, I even took him to the doctor as he was complaining of a horrible sore throat and almost cried when he swallowed. The diagonosis - tonsilitis and sinusitis - medicine for 7 days. We also had the dr look at his exzema - he also prescribed a cream for that. Kolby was pumped - while waiting for the pharmacy to fill his meds, he got to walk the ice cream aisle and pick whatever hit his fancy! I got to call into work for the very first time to say I would not make it in. I really enjoy days off from work! Work more on my wood pieces as I watch the Braves lose by 1 run. I am really really missing Biggest Loser - I may just watch an episode I have dvr'd -
Ali is so inspiring!
I would love to have those arms!

MONDAY, MONDAY ll! and Mothers Day 2008

Yes, I know how long it has been and I'll not make excuses!

Mothers' Day recap! All week I have debated wether or not just to take the day off but it seemed a particularly un-motherly thing to do so I put my order in for dinner and hoped for the best! Upon reflection it turned out quite well -

-it started out with me sleeping in until almost 9:30! In my personal opinion it's the very best way to start the day! Everyone got ready for church but Kolby who felt really too sick to even go down for Sacrament meeting even though he had a part of the mother's day program. I'll convess that I was a couple minutes late - oooops. But I got there and Steph and Jake and Kaylee were there! I had a personal triumphful moment when I took her out and after fighting for just a few minutes she succummed to the "momma rock" and went to sleep in my arms - I still have the touch!

Jim was conducting and he had asked several youth to talk about their mothers for a couple of minutes - Chad had said he would and as he came to the pulpit I was truely afraid! I had no idea what he would say about me - or if he would embarrass me beyond measure or not! But I shouldn't have worried - he is very much is fathers' son and barely made it to the pulpit before starting to tear up and then I did too because he relayed a message from Jason - he was so very excited for our call tonight! Chad went on the say how thankful he was for me - for listening to him and always being there for him! It was so touching to me and I was feeling very blessed just to have him in church. Our backyard neighbors where the concluding speakers - they are moving (we will miss them so much) and this was their farewell talk. I usually pretty much dislike mothers day because I hear all the wonderful things other mothers do and only end up feeling very inadequate (I can't even spell it and had to look it up! Another mark against me!) But Cara's talk wasn't like that at all and left me feeling pretty positive and a part of a worldwide sisterhood all trying to do our best! I wish I had taken notes - but alas my arms were full a beautiful sleeping granddaughter!
After church I came home to a very welcome sight - 2 cookie sheets full of chocolate covered strawberries dipped by BJ and Chad and Steph making Scotch & Soda's!!. Jess brought ham salad from Gerldines, BJ and Kindra brought Geraldines rolls and Steph and Jake brought the drink and stuff to make a relish tray - a perfect meal! (Except my Frito Lay man failed to come through with the chips) LOL

We watched the Jazz beat the Lakers (I'm so not a basketball fan except when March Madness rolls around!) We had a loud Mario Kart tournament and our old friends John and Pollyanna Cook and their kids came to visit! I even got a few minutes of a nap, hugged and played with the grandbabies, lots of laughing and a couple of priesthood blessings for the sick and aflickted and all in all a very good day. I also got some cards, some flowers, homemade brownie mix and a movie - Jim and I saw this in the theater - I started crying aproximately 12 minutes into it! But

oh what a could flick - defanetly a chick flick!

But the cherry on top was the call I made at 8:55 to FINLAND! My middle child got a wake up call from his mommy! It was 5:55am for him! He had had a late night as his companion had talked to his family until 1am their time and coincetentely we talked until almost 1 am our time! But boy it was good - each person got 15-20 minutes one-on-one time (of course my time was quite a bit more) :) He sound very good and ready to make the most of his 179 more days in Finland!

So my grade for Mother's Day 2008 an A-! Really after dreading it for the last couple of weeks it was great!

MONDAY'S Recap - I'll start off with my grade a C-

Yes and that is being generous! Luckily I gave away my shift last week and don't have to work today! I did get to sleep in - until after 10 but with being up til 1 the night before it doesn't really count! I woke up to SNOW! It is the middle of MAY for crying out loud! Enough! Koltin and Kolby are still sick and home from school - I feel like I am getting whatever they have and Jim does too. I did get to see a Braves double header - both blow outs - we lost the first and won the second - I ate too much and didn't get my workout in. We will see if I have to revise my grade based on how the Bachelor finale turns out (how sad is it that Kolby had to help me spell finale!!) I worked on some projects - a couple wood pieces "BLOOM" and a flower sitter - when I finish them I'll post a picture. So there were a few good things in today to save it from being even worse!
