To Do List's! & Visiting Teaching

OK - I was dreading summer, what with me working and the boys home alone causing havoc and killing each other and trashing the house and being slugs in front of the TV and, well you get my drift! when I was inspired - what do I do when I want to get a lot done? I make a 'to-do' list, so, instead of having assigned 'chores' that had to be done, a system that hasn't really worked in the past and one we should have abandoned along time ago, I'd have the boys each make a to-do list of things they wanted to do and that needed to be done and I would add to it as I saw fit. EUREEKA! SOOOOOO many things have gotten done - I think more has gotten done these last three weeks since school got out than all of last summer! Man - give Kolby a list and he plows through it! I don't know about the boys but I love having a to do list - it helps keep me sane when I have a million things coursing through my mind that need to be done. So I started out with them using a sheet of paper for their lists when I realized that we would be going through A LOT of paper this summer - Jim found these little notebooks on his shelf and I found some small clipboards and covered them with paper and put each boys' name on them and we hang them at the end of the counter in the kitchen! I just hope they keep working all summer - THAT would be my idea of a perfect summer! It Works For Me! And SO cute!!
.
It was my turn to give the lesson this month and am I so glad - the lesson was on our premortal existence and the quote that really hit me was from Richard G. Scott : "...You were taught and prepared for the circumstances you would personally encounter in mortality... Your memory of premortal life would be kept from you to assure that it would be a valid test, but there would be guidance given to show you how to live." What an awakening to my mind this quote was - I can't say I can't do that - whatever that is - if it is needful for me to do something - I was already taught it in Heaven - I DO know how to do things - I just need to humble myself and pray for the guidance necessary for me to accomplish the task. You hear people say all the time - I wish kids or life came with an owners manual - we don't need it - God has provided a way for us to do whatever we are asked to do - he prepared us - we need to do our part to be successful in our life here on earth. I just love this concept!
